Our Recommendations

Security updates are no longer provided and all Flock users are encouraged to upgrade to one of the two browsers listed below. Both are based on the same reliable technologies as Flock, and both are being actively maintained and improved. Also, each of the following browsers has a broad selection of add-ons and extensions to customize and extend their capabilities.

1. Why is Flock shutting down?

   The Flock team joined Zynga in January, 2011 and is now working to assist Zynga in achieving their goal of building the most fun, social games available to anyone, anytime -- on any platform.

2. Is there any version of Flock I can keep using?

   Flock will no longer be actively maintained, which means you can keep using the product, but key features will stop working and over time the browser will no longer be secure as software updates and upgrades will no longer be provided.

3. How will Flock's users find out they should move to a new browser?

   Users of Flock versions 2.x and 3.x received a notification announcing an update.

4. What browser should I use now?

   There are many browser choices. We recommend either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

5. Can I keep using Flock 3.x?

   You can keep using the product, but its sync and social networking features are no longer supported. In addition, the browser will not have the latest security and privacy updates made available.

6. How can I retrieve my favorites and feeds from my Flock 3.x profile?

   1. Click the "Home" button beside the URL bar.
   2. Click the "Favorites" tab:
   3. Click the "Export" link at the far right of the "Favorites" page:
   4. Click the "Browse" button to select a file location to export your data to. For feeds, the file format is OPML, which can be imported into Google reader and most standard feed reader applications. Favorites will be exported as HTML, which can be imported into the browser of your choice.
      

7. Can I keep using Flock 2.x or other older, Gecko/Mozilla-based versions of Flock?

   Yes, you can keep using the product, but key features are no longer supported and over time the browser will no longer be secure. Since this product will no longer be maintained or updated, we recommend that you switch to a browser that is still under active development and thus receives periodic security updates.

8. How can I migrate from Flock 2.x or other older, Gecko/Mozilla-based versions of Flock to another browser?

   1. Go to "Organize Favorites" under the "Favorites" menu.
   2. In the resulting dialog, click "Import and Backup" and select "Export HTML":
   3. Make note of the file location for later import into the browser of your choice.
   4. To export Feeds, go to the sidebar and click the Feeds icon to display your feeds.
   5. Click "Feed Options" and then "Export Feeds":
   6. You can import the exported OPML file into Google reader and most standard feed reader applications.

9. I want to keep using Flock. How do I get support?

   Community-based support will remain open at GetSatisfaction, but will no longer be managed by Flock. Any answers you receive will be generated from GetSatisfaction's community of users.
